Oh boy… here we go again.

Sorry. This is going to be one of those posts. I’ve been having a little issue lately. It is one of the reasons I have been taking time away from social media. I don’t really think social media is a net good but that’s not what I’m going to write about. Instead it’s something that I’ve seen happening with one person in particular. You don’t know this person and he will remain anonymous for reasons that will become clear.     The person is someone from my past. I guess you could say he was a mentor. He probably wouldn’t label himself as that and until the last few days I wouldn’t have labeled him as that either, but after alot of thought I realized that was exactly what he was to me. He was a cool older guy that I used to play music with. I knew him at a time when I was trying to figure out who I was. He was open and...

I want a simple build… maybe not that simple.

By on May 24, 2022

This might have been more my fault than anything else but that only made it that much more of a disappointment. I was browsing the aisles of an oversized brick and mortar bookstore when I came along a shelf of Gundam models. I was pleasantly surprised and I decided to get a little one. I figured it would probably be pretty simple, maybe a half-hour build, so I picked it up as a little treat. We went on a trip for the weekend and I was really looking forward to putting it together when I got home.     Here it is, in all it’s super-deformed glory. It looks pretty cool and alot different than my other ones. The problem was the only things I had to put together was the head, some kind of antenna that’s on its back and the gun in its hand. It literally took 45 seconds to complete. It is still cool looking but…     I decided to take a couple days...

Pot of Baked Beans?

By on May 19, 2022

I’ve decided to take on baked beans. Baked beans are one of those things that I kind of like but never very much. It falls into the same category as barbecue sauce. A few years ago I decided to take on barbecue sauce and finally make one that I enjoyed. I fine tuned and tweaked that recipe for an entire year before I finally got it right. Now it’s time for baked beans.     I technically started last summer but I didn’t make much progress. After working on them for a few months I decided to pause for a while and just focus on making good Mexican black beans and refried beans that I could add to our weekly meal planning. Now every time we have Mexican, which is at least once a week, I am able to whip up some good black beans as a side. It’s a nice addition that really rounds out the meal and I’ve become pretty proficient.     Using what...

A Mother’s Day project…

By on May 12, 2022

A couple of weeks ago my daughter wanted to play a game with my wife and I. She wanted to be a teacher and we were her students. She got everything together and even came up with a little lesson plan. I, getting into the spirit of things, spent most of my time hitting on the hot girl who sat next to me in class. My pick up line? “Hey.” I might have stole that from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse but don’t tell anyone. My daughter kept reprimanding me for not paying attention but I was sure I was doing my assignments before making eyes at the class hottie. When it was art time the teacher told us to draw flowers and I quickly drew this…     We finished playing and moved on with the evening. There was something I liked about the drawing so it stuck with me. With Mother’s Day quickly approaching I decided I wanted to use the drawing in some...

Got another one done…

By on May 4, 2022

Here she is. This latest Gundam has a different look than some of the others. That’s how I’m picking them now. Look and complexity. Most of the Gundams have the same look but at some point in the series each country built their own Gundam. The results are… interesting.     The Mexican Gundam had a huge sombrero. Spain’s Gundam was dressed like a giant bull and The Netherlands’ Gundam looked like a windmill. I would like to get some of these but my guess is finding models will be difficult.     This one was pretty simple so I think I might spring for a next level Gundam, which means I’m not going to be making one for a little while. I don’t mind spending $20-$30 here and there but $60 or more is a little harder to justify.     I’ll start searching and maybe I’ll come up with one that I can work on...

Working away…

By on Apr 28, 2022

Been sitting on this for a little while. Don’t really have much to write about. I did get a new Gundam which turned into a minor fiasco. I ordered it last week and it was supposed to arrive the next day but they delivered chair coasters instead. Not even close to a plastic model.     I thought I was done with this drawing but after the mixup I decided to keep going. Now we are just flying by the seat of our pants on this one. I have no idea where it is going at this point.     I did get the right shipment and I’ve started working on it too but I’ve kind of stalled for the moment. I’ve been in a terrible mood, if you couldn’t tell by the last few posts, which has led me to just waste time falling into tiktok and reelz holes instead of doing anything productive. It is amazing how those can effect your brain.     On the...

How Bloody Dare You?!?

By on Apr 19, 2022

My youngest is a trip. She’s in elementary school. We’ve had to have a talk with her about accepting dares. A few months ago she pulled a Cool Hand Luke and decided to eat some hard boiled eggs at lunch. The eggs were really gross and, on top of that, she absolutely hates eggs. We found out about the dare because she promptly threw up shortly after the bet resulting in a call from the Nurse’s Office.     A couple days ago we picked her up from school and she was both relieved and exhausted. It was a little weird but we didn’t think much of it. Later during dinner she let us know about her day. From an early age she was able to pick up accents. It was the weirdest thing listening to her play with her dolls, shifting through Midwestern, Southern and British accents. Apparently before class started she took a bet where she would speak with a...
