A Mother’s Day project…

By

A couple of weeks ago my daughter wanted to play a game with my wife and I. She wanted to be a teacher and we were her students. She got everything together and even came up with a little lesson plan. I, getting into the spirit of things, spent most of my time hitting on the hot girl who sat next to me in class. My pick up line? “Hey.” I might have stole that from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse but don’t tell anyone.

My daughter kept reprimanding me for not paying attention but I was sure I was doing my assignments before making eyes at the class hottie. When it was art time the teacher told us to draw flowers and I quickly drew this…

We finished playing and moved on with the evening. There was something I liked about the drawing so it stuck with me. With Mother’s Day quickly approaching I decided I wanted to use the drawing in some way. I thought making a card out of it would be cute and reminiscent of making homemade cards for my mom when I was little. So I scanned the pic and cleaned it up. As I was working on it my idea started to evolve. That night I pulled out my paints and started painting…

Doesn’t look like much but I had something in mind. After the paint dried for a day, I really laid it on thick, I scanned the painting and put it all together. I then made up a little tag like you’d see in a gallery and gave it to my wife for Mother’s Day.

It was a fun piece and I liked how it turned out. It was silly but sentimental. The most important thing was my wife loved it.
