Something New

By on Sep 29, 2016

I was asked to try something new. We are designing a new brochure at work and I was asked to take some product photos. Ummmm, OK. We acquired some lighting and I did some test shots.I have to say they turned out alot better than I was expecting. The above example was quickly taken. I barely spent more than 15 minutes setting everything up and taking the pictures. One thing that I have to say is, lighting is SO important. I know that everyone knows that but we bought a cheap $50 setup and it was definitely worth the money. We will have to buy a few more lights but even the cheap setup was impressive.Milwaukee Printing with Awesome ServiceOnline Calendars and On-Demand Printing

Finally Finished

By on Sep 19, 2016

Finally finished this one. Too bad the picture is so lousy. All in all it didn’t turn out too bad. Just have to figure out what to draw next. I’ve been so busy with work it is hard to find the time to do anything especially draw. It could be worse though. I’m getting some overtime which is nice and just having a job is always a good thing. It is easy to complain when things are going well and you loose sight of how things could be.I have to admit I’ve been neglecting my friends. I have been focusing on family. It seems like things are working out too. The girls wanted to color and play with Play Doh this weekend so I was able to finish this drawing while enjoying my coffee. All-in-all it was a pretty good weekend. I didn’t work as much as I should have, which is probably why my weekend was so good. We went apple picking on Saturday and on Sunday we...

Speaking of Vagaries

By on Sep 13, 2016

Have you ever been involved in something where you were misled into believing one thing while secret machinations were at play behind the scenes? I have been involved in a group that honestly I wanted nothing to do with. I was persuaded and given assurances that the group’s goals were indeed true and that my fears were unfounded. Over a period of time I reluctantly joined the group and while working toward the goal I found that my fears were indeed unfounded. My opinions and input were appreciated and I began to actually care about the goals and even become excited. Then I started noticing people using guarded language. Vague pronouns and reference to work that I thought was under my purview. Suddenly, the rug has been pulled out from under me.I feel betrayed. And it is early in the morning so I’ve got to sit with this all day. Just sit here in my disappointment and anger. It has...

A Quick Note About Politics…

By on Aug 26, 2016

I am really close to quitting the internet. Not really but I am really sick of politics. It seems like things are getting more vile everyday so I want to make a pledge to anyone who reads this blog. I will not get political. I will not post links or comment on political things, especially things that are meant to outrage people. This is my little corner of the internet so I want to keep it politic free. Now this is where I will back-pedal. Everything is being politicized so even a mundane thing can be interpreted with more meaning than intended. I also acknowledge that my life is different than yours so what might seem innocuous to me might be offensive to you. I am sorry. If I write something that is offensive please let me know. I am open to dialog. A good dialog might help me understand and change my behaviors. Just know that my ignorance is not hateful.OK?Milwaukee Printshop

Powell Peralta Artist Bio

By on Aug 18, 2016

As an artist I’ve dug into my past to find out more about my influences. One of them was the illustrator for Powell Peralta, V. Courtlandt Johnson or VCJ. I have been able to find information and even books on other skateboard artists but even with the internet, I was able to find very little about him. Occasionally I would find a reference to him being a hermit or that he had withdrawn from society. I just came across this article… HERE IS THE ARTICLE, and I was not disappointed. The article was short but this quote:”Drawing a thousand scales all in proportion to each other taught me to stop time and experience eternity.”Some artists I research turn out to be disappointments but that quote alone brings me such joy that I can hardly express it. Sometimes reality can live up to your expectations.Milwaukee Printing
