Experiencing Art

By on Aug 3, 2016

I really like art, can you tell? I have a degree in drawing. Drawing. I didn’t even know you could major in drawing until I did. Sure I could have majored in Painting or even Sculpture but I wanted to guarantee I would have a worthless college experience. Don’t get me wrong, I loved college. It kept me from worrying about getting a job, at least until I graduated. Anyway, as an art major I took a lot of art history classes. I’ve studied and looked at more artwork than your average person. I love going to art galleries and museums. My growing up involved me dragging my parents to museums instead of them dragging me. Now I drag my daughter to museums and galleries. Mostly for selfish reasons, after all it is my day off too, but I try to encourage her to experience them on her terms in hopes that she will enjoy the experience and not look at it as just something Dad makes her do.Most...

Dumb Injuries

By on Aug 1, 2016

Have you ever hurt yourself in such a stupid way that you’d rather suffer in silence than have to tell others how you did it? I jacked up my knee pretty bad this weekend. Now I’m trying my best not to limp because last thing I want to do is tell others how I hurt myself. It is kind of a bummer because now I’ll be rehabbing it for at least a week. That is a week without being able to run. I’ll be taking some real long walks this week.Milwaukee Printer

Out and About

This year we went to a waterpark and then went to a Japanese restaurant. She was not on board for sushi but she loved the goyza and chicken tempura. We went to a couple art museums and had lunch alongside the river downtown. We hit the Milwaukee Public Museum and spent one day out at Old World Wisconsin. I will elaborate on some of our travels in the next few weeks but for now I just wanted to explain the lack of posts, assuming anyone has noticed or cares. What is great about these weeks together is that we both do things we haven’t necessarily done before but we also do things we do all the time. For example, we went to MPM. We have a pass so we go all the time. This time it was just her and I so we just kind of...

Work in Progress

I know a lot of people have been talking about it but I just finished the second episode of Stranger Things. Wow. I’ve been a little disappointed with the first couple episodes of Mr Robot, but Stranger Things has kept me distracted enough to not get discouraged. The show is distractingly good. I tried to do some drawing while I watched it but found I was watching more than drawing, which is always a good sign.Milwaukee Printer

Lunch Bag Art – Some are Better than Others

By on Jul 20, 2016

Guess what they were doing on their field trip today. In my defense I both made her lunch and colored the bag in about 15 minutes. Here’s to procrastination!Milwaukee Printer
