RAWR… an evening of legos and pirates.

By on May 12, 2021

Got this set a while ago as a present. I didn’t really feel like drawing last night but there was a new podcast that I wanted to listen to. There is a podcast I really like called Darknet Diaries. It is about hacking and cybersecurity. The guy does pretty deep dives on different subjects like the hacking of the XBox and how someone stole the prototype while it was being developed. He talks to different hackers and social engineers, which is a term I absolutely love as a relabeling of con-man. Anyway, this week was the story of Pirate Bay. Personally I never used Pirate Bay, it was hard to access, after hearing the story I understand why, and I thought it just seemed a little too sketchy. It is an amazing story that is hard to believe. Art History: Laurie A. Conley

By on May 6, 2021

Laurie A Conley is an illustrator from Maryland. Her skills with pen and ink are mind boggling. She also has a whimsical yet dark sensibility that is adorable. She is an accomplished illustrator with many credits to her name but her little grim reapers and cute little ghosts are what really captured my attention. Her attention to detail and amazing line work reminds me of the amazing illustrations that used to grace newspapers and advertisements in the past. She draws like I wish I could. I have just recently come to grasp with the fact that I am a stippler but I wish so much I could do line work like her.         Sources: https://beacons.page/laurieaconleyart Home https://www.etsy.com/shop/LaurieAConleyArt Tweets by...

Cute Little Cactus

By on May 5, 2021

Here is a fun little sticker I just knocked out. Only took a couple of days. I reconnected with a friend I haven’t spoken to in a couple years and it was inspired by him. Specifically this song…     Another thing he introduced me to, in addition to Milk and Cheese, was the comic book Steven. Among the characters is an alcoholic cactus. While that cactus looks nothing like this one, the inspiration is there.     I mentioned I had a couple ideas and that one was plant based. That night I started some sketches and was pretty happy with the direction it was going. I was going to make a quick project of it but my daughter has been joining me for late night drawing again so my colored pencils got involved.     It really only took about two days to produce the final product. It was fun and I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. I...
