Odds and Ends

By on Nov 9, 2020

Got some odds and ends here. I have been doing some reorganizing or in some cases, finally organizing, and I ran across this…     This is a little metal model kit from Metal Earth. I put together a Millennium Falcon and it was difficult but alot of fun. This R2 was a pain in the butt. I started working on it over two years ago but gave up after several hours of work. Luckily I packaged everything up together so I still had the instructions and all the small pieces. Just for clarification, this model is about 2 1/2″ tall. I finally finished putting it together. I was once fascinated by these metal models but I think I’ve had my fill.   The other thing I decided to do was start listing some of the things I make for sale. Mostly just by offering Venmo purchases but I have to start somewhere. I stayed up way too late making magnets but I finished a...

Magikarp Stickers

I am making up for my productive October by sitting around wasting time watching stupid videos on my phone. That’s not the only thing I’ve been doing, but close. I have been running again. Man, it is ugly. After not running for 6 months, and exchanging whiskey for exercise, the results have been less than stellar. Last night I had my first decent run which was only 3 miles and it wiped me out for the evening. Turns out carrying an extra 25 lbs can be really exhausting. It’s slowing coming back though. Last week I was barely pulling off 2 mile runs so I am making progress. Work has been bananas too. I am definitely not complaining about that. I love being busy at work. Sure it cuts into my personal projects, which is why the reapers haven’t gone out yet, but there is something to be said about job security. I haven’t been totally idle though…...

Reaper of Souls

I finished! I had a bunch of issues come up while figuring out this buildable. The cloak’s hood was a nightmare. I think I went through 5 revisions just because of that. The machine I was using to cut them was causing all kinds of scratches to the final piece so I had to do a bunch of research and testing to get them just right. Once I had that all figured out I had to work on the packaging. Unfortunately they ended up a little bigger than I hoped but I am happy with the final product. They will not be going out before Halloween but they will be going out soon!

Halloween Preparedness

By on Oct 28, 2020

Started work on some Halloween stuff. My measurements were a bit off but it worked as a proof of concept. My wife decided she wanted to go as Coraline for Halloween. I think it was just an excuse to get that nice yellow raincoat she has been talking about for the last two months.     She went back and forth on wether or not she was going as Hermione or Coraline so she originally bought a cheap Griffindor costume that came with some glasses. I cut out some buttons and got crazy with the hot glue. I’m just wondering, does everyone have a hot glue gun handy or is that just me?     The buttons turned out pretty sweet. I was really happy with how they turned out. The only problem was…     They were way too big. But they were very sturdy, even with just a little hot glue. So I have to resize them and take another run at it tomorrow. All is not...

Quick Update

By on Oct 27, 2020

Dang! The mailing list has gotten pretty big. I might have to cut it off soon. I just made the final draft of the Grim Reaper buildable but now I have to produce them. I guess the good thing about having a large list is I have to keep these things in mind. I want to start selling these and I don’t want to be one of those terrible Etsy horror stories about how they became successful and everything fell apart. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have any expectations that these will take off but that isn’t really why I’m doing them. I was hoping to have these in the mail and to everybody by Halloween but unfortunately it doesn’t look like that is going to happen. Regardless, I have finished the Grim and they should be going out soon. I will post some pics soon.   And something I ran across…

Inktober 2020…Day 10: Hope

By on Oct 19, 2020

Nashville Hot Chicken drives me crazy. I want to go to Nashville for the sole purpose to feast on their chicken. At this point, the only thing I am sure of is that it includes chicken, pickles and some kind of spicy sauce. I have read that it is an oily sauce that is somewhat like but definitely not buffalo wing sauce. I have tried it at 5 or 6 different restaurants and every time it is different and never like what I have read. I’ve tried it at high end restaurants and chains, only to be given what is essentially a buffalo chicken sandwich…until now. There is a new place that opened called The Hot House Tavern. My nephew agreed to watch the kids so my wife and I had a date night. Any date night is generally a good night but this one turned out really great. The place was trendy, awash with 20-somethings clad in skinny jeans and floppy beanies, luckily, we dined on...
