Wait…WHAT?

So, I just found out something that really blew my mind. I’m sure you are familiar with The Leaning Tower of Pisa…     We’ve all seen it. Well maybe not in real life, and maybe that’s the problem, but images of it are everywhere. It is one of those things that everybody knows about. I just found out something that just blew my mind. Maybe it’s just because I’ve never really thought about it, but do you know what is on the inside? Rooms? The outside would suggest 7 or 8 floors? What is really inside?     Nothing. That’s right. Nothing. There are some stairs but other than that it is hollow. I could not believe it so I went to the tower’s website, http://www.towerofpisa.org/ and sure enough, nothing. So my mind has been sufficiently blown for the day.

Wrong Number

By on Aug 12, 2020

A few years ago my wife and I got new phones. We had to get new phone numbers too. My wife wrote her phone number down on a piece of paper that I put in my wallet and I kept it there but never programmed it into my phone. She went out of town for the weekend and I tried giving her a call. When the person I dialed picked up he had a very deep voice and answered with a, “Yeah?” Me: Uh, [my wife’s name]? Him: Nah. Me: I’m sorry I have the wrong number. Him: [click] I checked the number she wrote on the paper and dialed it again… Same deep voice: Yeah? Me: [my wife’s name]? Him: [laughing] Nah man! Me: Dang it! She gave me the wrong number. Him: [laughing super hard] Me: I’m sorry. Have a good day. Him: [Trying to stop laughing] Hey man, hang it there. That kinda girl ain’t worth it anyways. Me: That’s my wife. Him: AAAHHHHH HAAAHHHH...

Teach a Man to Fish…

By on Aug 11, 2020

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”  – Lao Tzu   That has been rattling around in my head for a little while now. It seems like a simple thing. It makes sense, but have you ever actually tried to teach someone how to do something? Not just show them how to do something but actually teach them? It requires an intense amount of attention, skill, observation and patience. You have to demonstrate and listen. You have to observe intensely and try to see what the other person is seeing. I think most people hear that and think, “yeah just teach them how to fish,” but it really means dedicate yourself to that person. You have to become a mentor. Your life becomes intertwined with theirs, even if it is for a short period of time. It is so much easier to just give someone a fish. Most people...

Busy Week

By on Aug 10, 2020

This video kind of sums up the lessons I’ve learned this week. I have been so busy working on a project and it was exhausting. The thing is, it was a project for someone else. I was working away, pro bono, while never hearing a peep from the person I was working so hard for. I know this is vague so please excuse me if it doesn’t make sense. To put it simply, I felt taken advantage of. Every day I felt the resentment growing inside me. I talked to neutral parties hoping to find that I was missing something and that my resentment was unfounded but they all agreed with my assessment… which only made things worse! After working and seething for a little over a week I met with the person with the completed project. I had so many things going through my head. Little one-liners and digs. Subtle and very passive aggressive. I had my bow pulled back as far as it would...

Seedot

By on Jul 31, 2020

Just finished up the Seedot stickers and they are… Seedots. I am curious if anyone REALLY likes Seedots. They just seem kind of bleh. The evolutions are kind of neat but the basic seems like someone just kind of phoned it in. I was trying to figure out why I chose to do this one. It was mostly because of Community Day in Pokémon GO! but I think it had something to do with my walks in the woods too. I really like taking walks in the woods this time of year. I’ve seen alot of amazing things over the years, like the red fox that had me follow it down the trail. Every time I would think it had run away it would be sitting just around a bend, watching and waiting. It does make me worry a little about that old saying about being a runner, “It’s only a matter of time before you find a body.” Anyway, I like how this sticker turned out. The most...
