Warrior Nation

By on Aug 15, 2016

So I did it. My wife went to the airport and picked up my mother. Her trip went well. She didn’t get lost or make any wrong turns. She wasn’t happy but she did it and I am incredibly thankful. I was able to do the Warrior Dash. I was afraid I wasn’t going to have as much fun as I did last year because I didn’t stick around afterward to drink and party but I have to say I still really enjoyed it. This year it was at a new place so it was much more difficult. They had a hill that was so punishing. Everyone was complaining afterward. I loved it. While last year I thought the party was the highlight this year the course was actually challenging and even included a nice portion that ran through the woods. One of our teammates lost her shoe and had to complete the race with one we found. There were laughs and like last year a couple in our team completed the course...

Unseen Ranting

By on Aug 10, 2016

So one of the great things about having a blog that no one knows about or sees is the fact that I can say just about anything I want. Nobody cares and I end up feeling at least a little bit better at the end of the day.So I love to run and while I currently find it easy to keep myself motivated, I still want to challenge myself. I downloaded the Nike+ app for my phone and I track everything. While that offers its own rewards I would like to occasionally do some sanctioned events. One event I did this year was the Iola Trail run. I tried it for the first time last year and found it to be really challenging and it was a great experience. I ran it with my brother-in-law and we both had a great time. I had just started running at the time so I had no expectations and was happy with my performance.I ran it again this year and that was soul crushing. The run is in early spring and in some...

Pokémon GO Adventures

By on Aug 8, 2016

I’m still having a good time playing Pokémon GO. I sometimes get a little free time to myself on Fridays. Usually I will just waste the time, maybe do some chores, but lately I’ve been checking out new parks. I have been finding some unexpected things along the way. Eventually I’d like to look into things like this. How did something like this end up in a Waukesha park? Next time I go downtown I think I’m going to take screenshots of the various Poké-Stops so I can find out more about them. One stop in particular was a brick. A single brick in the side of a brick building in memorial to one person. I don’t even think there is a plack. Just an engraved brick.Milwaukee Digital Printer

Experiencing Art

By on Aug 3, 2016

I really like art, can you tell? I have a degree in drawing. Drawing. I didn’t even know you could major in drawing until I did. Sure I could have majored in Painting or even Sculpture but I wanted to guarantee I would have a worthless college experience. Don’t get me wrong, I loved college. It kept me from worrying about getting a job, at least until I graduated. Anyway, as an art major I took a lot of art history classes. I’ve studied and looked at more artwork than your average person. I love going to art galleries and museums. My growing up involved me dragging my parents to museums instead of them dragging me. Now I drag my daughter to museums and galleries. Mostly for selfish reasons, after all it is my day off too, but I try to encourage her to experience them on her terms in hopes that she will enjoy the experience and not look at it as just something Dad makes her do.Most...
