I just finished up a new sticker. I haven’t made the bookmark yet but that is in the works. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out but after looking back at some of the pictures I think I’m going to have to go back in and do some color correction. It starts with a sketch. I usually do quite a few before I finally figure out what I want to do. I have started a few other Pokémon drawings that die in this stage. If I can’t get excited about the project I will move on and mull it over for a while. Inking comes next. I really enjoy inking but the sketch is always my favorite. I like the clean look of a nice inking but there is something special about pencils. They seem fresher or more alive? I am enamored with colored pencils right now. They are fun to work with, fairly clean and easy to get out and put away. I’ve been working with colored pencils for a long...

I took printmaking too soon. Actually it kind of feels like I did alot too soon. Or maybe it was all those things that planted the seeds that are now germinating. There is something I really dig about making art on wood. The wood grain really adds something special.

Lunch Bag Art – Yo-Kai Watch

Yo-Kai Watch is the weirdest show. The first episode was all about how the grade school boy was caught by a girl coming out of the school bathroom after dropping a deuce. She then goes and tells everybody in the school, totally embarrassing him. As it turns out it isn’t the girl’s fault, she is just possessed by a spirit or Yo-Kai. My oldest has started to really like the show and the dollar store has a huge supply of the toys all for a… dollar. A dollar because it is the Dollar Store, nevermind. So this was my daughter’s lunchbag. A couple posts ago I talked about how it was a special thing just for her, well apparently her bags haven’t gone unnoticed. She told me a girl was being really mean to her asking what made her so special. To top it off the girl’s mom was going to make her lunchbag 100 times better… I feel bad for that poor girl’s mother. Her mom is probably just doing...

Pika Pika Perler

We just spent the weekend at my in-laws house. They live in rural Wisconsin, which has its upsides and its downsides. We used to go alot more often but now we only go a couple times a year. When we were visiting more often I started to despise going. There were a few reasons, one of which was sheer boredom. I have mentioned, with children I am not afforded the luxury of boredom, which is true and amplified there. After we had kids I would find myself working twice as hard taking care of the kids because they were bored. Being as it was my in-law’s house, my normal tools for keeping the girls occupied were no longer available. This made the situation even more frustrating for everyone involved. About a year ago I decided to remedy the situation. It took me a little while to come up with a decent solution but I realized if Grandma’s house had special activities...
