Baby Cacti

By on Sep 8, 2020

I get it. Again with the cacti? Yes, again with the cacti. I have been working on these and trying to figure out what I really wanted to do with them and I’ve finally made a breakthrough. You know what that means? That’s right, I will finish it up and start writing about something else over and over. I mentioned planting some at the zoo several months ago and then checking on them a couple weeks ago. Well I went back with phase 2. Babies! I planted a few and left a few babies in places where people might be tempted to take them. Rolled up inside were the stickers I printed up last week.     I don’t know if anyone actually took them or if some poor janitor just had to pick them all up but if you are here because you found a little cactus…Welcome. And if you are the poor janitor or other worker who was just annoyed to have to pick up my garbage...

Doing a little more branding…

By on Sep 2, 2020

Just been working on a little branding. I always struggle with what I think looks cool versus what is readable. I think I’ve stuck a decent middle-ground with this one. This really makes me want to get into screen printing. I think it might look good across the front of a shirt.

It Really is about the Reveal

By on Aug 27, 2020

I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to start a new project so I decided to just do some doodling. Practice some line-work and watch Gravity Falls with my daughter. I have heard some good stuff about the show so I thought we’d check it out. It is really fun and I highly recommend it. Back to the matter at hand…     It isn’t a good drawing but it is something. I haven’t done anything with animations lately so I thought it might be fun to mess around a little bit. I didn’t even do a good scan. I just used a mobile phone pic, cleaned it up a bit and got to work. The last few animations I did didn’t really work out because I was impatient. I didn’t want to spend a ton of time working on this so I tried to figure out what areas to focus on and the best way to maximize frames so it would appear smooth but the file size...

Nothin’ but a Dog

By on Aug 25, 2020

I haven’t been doing anything of note lately. Nothing. No sketches. No paintings. Nothing. I have some ideas rattling around in my head but nothing has been happening. I went back to the zoo and did some cacti cleanup but other than that I have just been getting by. I don’t have anything else so here is a picture of my dog playing with a stuffed s’more…

I Present the Quokka…

By on Aug 19, 2020

From the land that brought you Syndey Funnel Spiders, Taipan Snakes and Drop Bears comes an animal so cute and adorable it almost makes up for those deadly monstrosities. I present the quokka…     They aren’t just adorable, they are also super friendly. There is actually a page on Australia.com with tips on how to get a good selfie with the little critter.     I thought it might be too good to be true but indeed Snopes even had an article because so many people, myself included, found this marsupial’s existence too good to be true.     Just look at that little gal!

Another Cactus Update

By on Aug 18, 2020

I planted a few cacti about 3 weeks ago. I planted them at the zoo. I found a small, out of the way path and I put them there. I didn’t think of them much after that. Well that’s not entirely true, I thought about them constantly for about 2 days and then I kind of forgot about them. I went to the zoo over the weekend and checked on my little sculptures. I figured they would be gone but they weren’t. They were still there. A little worse for wear but they were still there. It looked as though some kids had ran across them and pulled them out of the ground but their parent had hastily replanted them. The zoo was kind of busy so I didn’t have time to fix them at all but next time I go I will fix them up and perhaps plant some more. …And now for something totally different. See this kid?     He is your ordinary, everyday kid. His name is...
