Strange occurrences…

This weekend some strange things happened that I can’t exactly explain. I’m trying to lock them away in the memory vault but they keep nagging at me.

On Saturday we all left the house together to grab a quick lunch and pick up a few groceries. We weren’t gone very long, anywhere between an hour and an hour-and-a-half. When I was bringing in the groceries I walked around the table and kicked something on the floor. I put the bags down and looked to see what I kicked. There was a coffee mug on the floor. It was clean with nothing in it. I picked it up and told my youngest to not leave stuff like that on the floor and she just stared back at me blankly.

A few hours later I was in the kitchen cooking and my wife came around the table and kicked something. She too kicked a mug that was on the floor in the same spot. Different mug, but it was in the same place the one I kicked was. Here’s the thing, I looked around and there wasn’t another mug down there when I picked up mine. We once again told my youngest to not leave glasses or mugs on the floor and she insisted it wasn’t her. She swore up and down that she hadn’t done it.

A little later, early evening, we fed the dog and while she was eating she suddenly stopped and started barking at the wall. She was growling and barking, refusing to go back to eating. I picked up her bowl, looked all around the area and returned her bowl. I also removed her water bowl and refilled it. After a few more moments she seemed to watch something, something I couldn’t see, go around the kitchen and then she went back to eating. Maybe it was a bug?

I don’t know what that was all about but it definitely seemed weird. Maybe it’s time to invest in a mezuzah, or at least change the code on our garage door opener.
