Sometimes you just want to hang out with your kid, watch some Gravity Falls and draw hundreds of circles. I need to take a step back. I have really been focused on setting up the store and making products to sell. That is also sucking the joy out of what I have been doing. I have been trying to make stuff people will like or trying to come up with a new sticker or buildable. I decided I have to just step back. I am still going to continue setting the store up but I am slowing down a bit. I’m getting back to just drawing and having a good time. So I’m just working on…
Lots and lots of circles. Not real sure where this particular drawing is going which is why I decided to spend some time working on it. My daughter and I are still watching Gravity Falls, which is wonderful. It is like X-Files for kids. The characters are silly and strange but complex. They have a “monster of the week” but there is an overarching story too. When one episode involves the acquisition of a pig, that pig shows up in later episodes. The character design and environments are interesting and thoughtful. One of the main characters is voiced by the brilliant, Kristen Schaal, who’s delivery is fantastic. It is a really great show. I just wish there were more episodes because Inktober is almost here.
That’s right the official prompt list is out. I am just starting to look at it right now and it looks like some nice stuff might be on its way. Here’s to many late nights drawing. This is also the anniversary of my workplace being hit by ransomware, which ruined my last year’s Inktober. I am trying to keep meticulous backups and putting as many protections in place so hopefully I’ll be working more on my own thing than work this October, then again that overtime was nice when it came to Christmas last year.
