Digital Downtimes and Cute Kitties

By

So screens have become an issue with my girls. It is kind of a mixed bag so it’s been hard to navigate. While on their devices they are good about interacting with each other and their friends instead of just isolating themselves. They play games while Facetiming and chatting. It can be dizzying to watch. It is good to see them having fun problem-solving and playing with one another and others. The problems start when it is time to take the devices away. When taking away or even saying it is time to take a break they immediately, and often viciously, act out verbally and sometimes physically. They react the same way a food aggressive dog reacts when you get too close to their food dish. So we had to devised a credit system. To earn an hour on their devices they have to spend 2 hours offline, doing something else. There have been times I had to turn off the router and we often have to set a timer so they can see how much time they have left before plugging back in but we have made some really good progress. The oldest only bit me once this weekend while I was forcibly taking her phone. It is weird how it effects their brains.

This weekend, during one of the digital downtimes, the girls and I were playing school. My oldest was the teacher, my youngest was the good student and I was the bad boy, obviously. When I was supposed to be doing my math test I was doing drawings…

I don’t know why but I love this drawing. It only took 10 or 15 seconds but I just love it. It looks a little disappointing blown up but there is something about it that really trips my trigger. I keep trying to figure it out but I just can’t put my finger on it. It kind of reminds me of this…

Which was another little doodle I was suprisingly happy about. I’m not sure what it is but I’m searching.
